CA - for Mr. Monkman.(2nd Page)

Talking about the first question, “Where have I been?”, I started school 14 years ago in my Play Group, or as it is called in the United States, Kindergarten. This lasts for 2 years and is where I learned how to read and write, and learned other things. Then I went to Elementary school for 6 years, where I studied more subjects. After I finished my Elementary I started my Junior High School, which lasts for 3 years and is where the subjects get harder and harder every single day. We have to take 17 subjects every week. That was not too fun for all of us students, (I think for the teacher too). After I finished my junior high school I moved into Vocational High School for a Multimedia major, which is like a kind of Design Communication Visual major. We learn a lot of thing about designs. I had been there for two years and then moved here for my senior year, where I am learning a lot of new things that I haven’t learned before. Like I said, I can’t graduate here, so that means I need for go back to my country for one more year of school to graduate.

Go to the next Question, “Where am I going?” Finally this question comes along. When someone asks questions about where I am going to be, I’m a little bit curious too. I want to be an engineer now. That is my first priority, but I think I still want to be a web designer too, if that isn’t too confused of an answer. I can just say, “now here I am, my senior year in high school, without many ideas of what I want to do. Haha…”

Now seems to be the time to start taking life seriously and making responsible, educated choices. Now I come to a crossroads in my life where I choose what to do with my future, choose what will make me happy. My plans for the future are having a great job with a loving family who’s willing to support me in my good and bad times. I am now realizing that there are so many other steps I need to take in order to achieve these so called “goals”. This includes graduating from high school and college, finding that special someone, and finding that perfect job.

CA - for Mr. Monkman.(1st Page)

I can’t believe it. Right now I’m on my senior year, how each year, since the beginning of my high school, my perfectly laid plans for myself have unavoidably deteriorated. When I entered my first year of high school I had aspirations of being a web designer. Being a web designer is something I have wanted to be since my teacher in vocational high school explained what web designers do. I was even taking programming script to help with the web design data base. That was very hard for me. Now, here I am, my senior year in America. It’s like a dream for me to be here, because I never thought I would have this opportunity.

Yes, I am an exchange student from Indonesia. I got a scholarship to come to the United States for my senior year. It was fun getting here, and it has been fun being here. I couldn’t believe I was coming to the United States, or that I’ve been here 5 ½ months already. Even though I can’t graduate here, this is a great experience for me. I’m still glad I can do my senior year here because not everyone in my country can easily get a scholarship to another country. When I came here my English was not very good, so sometimes I was able to get what people were saying and sometimes I wasn’t. Sometimes my friends at school couldn’t understand what I said. That was funny though. They were, and still are, very nice, and our friendship has gotten better every day because we help each other.

The Curriculum in this state is very different then in my country. I like school here so much more. We take the same class every day, which means we can focus on studying that subject, and that supports what we want to do in the future. In my country we go to school almost every day, even on Sunday. Usually the students have to go on Sunday to do extracurricular activities like sports, and to earn extra credit in some classes. Also, we don’t have summer vacation, just short breaks throughout the year. So, since I have been in school all year before, and now in school here, I kind of feel different, like I have less pressure.
